Disagree about the impact

Yes, it has long been known to those who care to inquire, that the arabs tend to say one thing to westerners and quite another to their own. This was most shockingly evident on multiple occasions with Arafat, where the western world could not be bothered to translate the inciteful and alarming speeches that contradicted everything he said to western leaders.

In this case, whether it is diplomatic posturing to appeal to westerners, the Saudi and other arab nation communiques at the very least embarass them, which is a serious issue in their world. The fact that they are on record asking for US help and encouraging us to bomb Iran indicates weakness on their part, exposing duplicity and fickleness; regardless of whether these communiques were genuine or not.
