Before the election I predicted that Obama would turn into Jimmy Carter II. Let's review the record as of this writing.

He cancelled the missile defense shield in Eastern Europe, and got not even one concession from Russia or China concerning economic sanctions against Iran. He intentionally snubbed the 20 year German celebration of the fall of the Berlin Wall. His first initial reaction to the Russian incursion into Georgia was to be polite, restrained. He cancelled the F-22 Raptor jet fighter at a mere 187 planes. The U.S. Air force had originally wanted 750, it was cut to 442, then 381, and finally to 243. After that announcement the Russians revealed their secretly designed Sukhoi T50 an aircraft designed to match the Raptor, and more than a match for its planned replacement the F-35 Joint Strike fighter. This should not have come as a surprise to anybody as Russia openly announced a 30 percent increase in their defense budget almost a year before.

During his campaign Obama promised a multi-tiered approach to energy independence. Within a couple of months after his election he along with Senator Harry Reid cut the funding to the planned nuclear storage facility at Yucca Mountain. Yet another 20 years, and 9 billion dollars of funding down the drain, along with 77,000 tons of nuclear waste with nowhere to go. And not one so-called environmentalist or security agency concerned about the dangers that all this above ground radioactive waste poses to the country.

And now we witness to his Vice President using the harsh words of condemnation to describe people building homes in their own traditional homeland. A word which is usually used by our leaders to describe cowardly, atrocious, and murderous actions against innocent people such as the terrorist bombings of public places. This coming after the Palestinians finally agreed to indirect talks, yes indirect talks, not face to face, man to man, but through an intermediary after much cajoling by this administration. And they have the gall to ask Israel to hold up the much needed 1600 housing units that are already under construction in the vain hope that yet another round of third party talks will accomplish anything.

How long will it take for the Palestinians to finally launch a peace settlement by themselves, for themselves, without worrying about the approval, or disapproval of the rest of the Islamic world? When are they and the rest of the Arabian world finally going to reach the state of emotional and political maturity? And just how long will it take liberal democrats to realize that publicly castigating your friends and allies, in order to appease your enemies always leads to catastrophe.
