the unknown islamist's answer (and mine) to what is an islamist

Reader comment on item: Should We Believe Rashad Hussain?
in response to reader comment: Please define an "Islamist'

Submitted by myth (Germany), Feb 23, 2010 at 15:13

The unknown islamist would probably say something like this: Islamism does not exist because as can be proven by the quran, the word "islamist" is not even in there. my answer: the islamists want sharia law. there's the hardcore islamists who want it for everyone everywhere 100%, the medium islamist wants it as long as it does not conflict with the law of the land but everywhere, the low level islamists want it for muslims only in muslim countries. Among the islamists there are the outspoken who would always resort to the quran at some stage, even if you start asking about the weather. If you want a quick one, say you like going to Israel for the weather... The identifying factor of them all, including the islamists-in-secret, is they would never ever criticise islam. They would never ever use the words islam/islamic in any imaginable negative context.
