Reader comment on item: [Election Monitors:] The Next Assault on American Sovereignty

Submitted by William Schadowsky (United States), Aug 18, 2004 at 20:04

For the first ten years of my Army career, I was positive the greatest threat to my country came from without. After taking the oath several times, I started learning about the constitution I was supposed to support and defend. The more I learned, the more I became concerned that the real threat came from within, specifically, those in Washington, past and present. Then I learned about what is supposed to be the antithesis to our form of government, communism. I could not believe that in my "free" country, the government has implemented every tenent of Karl Marx' communist manifesto. A heavy progressive income tax, a central bank, or government control of education sound familiar? Learn the real intent of the Council on Foreign Relations, an organization that has people in powerful positions in Washington. My last ten years in service I started to speak to superiors, peers and subordinates alike, about the constitution. When I was told by a West Point graduate captain that the constitution had no bearing on my military service, I couldn't believe my ears. The constitution was the sole purpose of my service and remains in the forefront of my dreams for this nation. Freedom isn't free, citizenship requires constant vigilance of government. I'm sorry I waited so long to pay attention.
