Reader comment on item: More Muslim "Hate Crime" Myths

Submitted by pedz (United States), Sep 13, 2009 at 02:00

I thought it was odd how you did not have any facts representing the other side. So, I dug around and found some.

APA report on hate crimes says that in 2007, there were 7,621 hate crimes reported to the FBI due to race / ethnicity. 61% were anti-Hispanic. So, lets say that 1% were anti-Muslim (a number that seems extremely low to me). Thats 70 per year. And if we go from the initial report of 2004 to 2009 (5 years), that comes out to be about 350 anti-Muslim hate crimes. And we have 10 frauds... Just 10. That says that 2.8% of the reported crimes are fraudulent. Thats a trivially small number. Definitely not worth making a big todo about like a whole page (which is actually copied a dozen times over by other 'bloggers').

So, why did you write (or copy) this page?
