Mary mary mary, I actually work in an area which has had a massive increase insecurity since the 911 attacks. I know what good protection and security theatre are. The idea that random islamists are going to wander round the bush setting fires that would only burn non urban areas and destroy ... serious infrastructure is stupid. Why wouldn't you try and blow up a mall or a trainstation or social security building? To kill a bunch of farmers and tree changers would achieve sweet f all.

The other thing you might like to consider is that public terrorist utterances are like teenage boasts. terrorism itself means to spread fear. of course terrorists say they can do anything, it really doesnt mean that they can. The way they are winning if at all is the extra costs and inconvenience of preparing for such unlikely events.
