The corrupt effect on religion by politics is almost a law of physics. Yet we are supposed to play games of recognition of crooked national leaders we keep in power for supporting exactly what binLaden calls for: JIHAD. It does not seem very different in the way Israelis drag the US into exsanguination of our heroic volunteers-- and its own youth-- for a Jewish state that claims it better belongs as part of NATO and EU than as part of the Middle East where it actually lives.

Arab hate of Israel began with the impression post-WWII that Israel was a Western foothold for the colonialists and is now seen as the manipulator of them all in endless Crusades against Islam. As a result, nobody gets anything and everyone loses its youth in battle. Wouldn't it be better if Israel focused on modernizing the Middle East it is part of toward cutting loose of the American placenta of $ that keeps it a fetal state? This is the principle behind Netanyahu's plan to integrate the Palestinians with Israel ECONOMICALLY before getting bogged down in the political issues of a two states solution. For that he will need a Cabinet of courageous Sabras, not old East Euro ... s.
