Netanyahu is a smart MIT graduate. If he had gone straight for a conservative coalition, the left would have fought him at every turn thereafter. Now he can build the coalition he promised, and if the left complains, he can say: "I offered you almost everything and you refused; now you have only yourself to blame."

It's just another case of the left shooting themselves in the foot.
