While the Old Testament does indeed command killing, it was never instructed based on "disbelief" - but , for example, exactly as you state, to eliminate such wonderful practices such as child sacrifice, rape, incest, etc. Neither did the Old Testament ever proclaim Paradise as the reward, nor that it was "the acheivement supreme" (such as the Qur'an advocates). Little by little, hopefully, through education more followers of Islam will realize Truth.
