Zulu Time = GMT = Mecca Mean Time?Reader comment on item: Mecca Mean Time? Submitted by Romesh Chander (United States), May 5, 2008 at 15:49 Would muslims accept Zulu Time?. I think US Military uses it and also communicates with Saudi Military using Zulu Time; so does probably Saudia Airlines. How many observatories are in Mecca or Medina? None. Do Saudis know what an Observatory means? I doubt it. How many Saudis are trained in Astronomy? None. Astrology, may be (by the Hindus), but in Astronomy, none. Astronomy requires advanced knowledge of Mathematics. How much Math do Saudis know? They have not gone beyond knowing the ten digits they learnt long time ago. If there were no computers (invented and made and sold by westerners), they will be using fingers on the hand to do the counting. They still use eyes to watch for the moon for the coming of Ramadan? To change computers to Mecca Mean Time, would Saudis be able to program their computers? I doubt it; their knowledge of operating systems is cipher. Do the Saudis expect the rest of the world to change their computers to Mecca Mean Time and go through all the expense just to keep Muslims happy? They must be deluding themselves. Microsoft and IBM will refuse to do it because their customers are going to refuse to pay Billions of Dollars for the change. Are Saudis going to pay Billions for it? I doubt it. Why waste all this time, effort, and money? These Islamists have no concept of the real world. Little knowledge is a very dangerous thing. Will making this change make Allah happy and send all muslims to Heaven (not to talk of infidels)? I have serious doubts about it. Folks, Let us call GMT as ZULU TIME. Any objections? Would like to hear from non-fanatics and non-nationalists.
