Singing a different tune

Reader comment on item: Let Iraqis run Iraq

Submitted by Steven Stern (United States), Oct 16, 2003 at 23:46

You are singing a different tune. Where were these warnings before the war which you advocated in writing? Prior to the war you wrote this war was a necessary step in the War against Islamism. Now you state it 'will end in failure." Well, looks like we're stuck and we can't withdraw. We made our decision (I think it was the correct one).

We cannot afford another retreat as a nation...

Daniel Pipes replies:

Any one who thinks I supported the uprooting of Saddam Hussein's hideous rule as part of a "War against Islamism" has no idea of my views and does not deserve a reply. (In brief: Saddam's regime had little to nothing to do with Islamism.)
