Leftists in Denial

Reader comment on item: Extremists on Campus

Submitted by Irfan Khawaja (United States), Jul 4, 2002 at 15:25

I think some of the leftists on this message board are badly in denial. No one who has seen the Islamists mentioned in this article in action could possibly deny the connection between them and the Left, and vice versa. They share the Left's hysterical hatred of reason, of individualism, of liberty, of capitalism ("globalization"), and of the United States; they share the Left's allegiance to tribalism, force, and the politics of incessant "protest." They also share the Left's double standards when it comes to judging Third World revolutionary movements. And they say, quite explicitly, that they are on the Left--as the Left either welcomes them with open arms, or generates excuses for them that allow them to continue functioning as they do. If it talks, looks, smells, and acts like a duck, it is one.

Time to wake up and smell the coffee, comrades.
