Radical Islamists Trump Moderate Muslims

Reader comment on item: When Conservatives Argue about Islam

Even after reading and listening to what moderate Muslims have to say, the fact remains that radical Islam is out to destroy western civilization. That is the real issue. There is no distortion in interpretation to the violence that has been emanating from Islamic radicals who preach their own kind of violent jihad. There is no interpretation distortion in what happened on 9/11 in NYC or in countless acts of ruthless murder that are performed in the name of Islamic jihad. Mere explanations by a myriad of moderate Muslims cannot erase the horror and terror perpetrated by countless Islamic radicals.

Nothing said by these moderate Muslims can erase the threat posed to the United States and the western democracies by radical Islamists. So I am compelled to ask, what purpose does it serve to get the views of moderate Muslims expressed while the threat of radical Islam continues to exist. Are we to say to ourselves that not all Muslims are bad guys, because not all of them will chop off your head or expload themselves and anyone who is standing nearby. Because not all of them will fly planes into tall buildings or attempt to destroy our cities and people with weapons of mass destruction. Fine, let's agree that not all Muslims are murdering radical Islamic jihadists---we already know that. The fact is that radical Islamists trump moderate Muslims.
