Any instruction or leadership available in a university?Reader comment on item: [Brandeis University President Jehuda] Reinharz, Israel and Me Submitted by Felipe Ornelas (United States), Feb 13, 2007 at 19:00 After reading Mr Katz correspondence with Mr Reinharz, I am remembering the response of the Irvine leadership after Mr Pipes was interrupted. I teach at a university as well, and I really can't see the highest priority of Mr Reinharz being, "to ensure that our academic community is a safe and civil environment for the widest possible discussion of ideas and issues." Obviously Mr Pipes' ideas must be considered just a little wider than what may be allowed on Brandeis' campus. As for the preservation of a safe and civil environment, we can see the civility inheirent in Islamists from Mr Pipes Irvine encounter. Finally, what about safety? The preaching of genocide, mass murder, and totalitarian regime is dangerous as far as I'm concerned. How can one teach if there is no right and wrong or truth and lies.
