Keeping Muslims Under Surveillance
Reader comment on item: American Law Enforcement Really Does Profile Muslims – The Siraj Case

Submitted by Jack Bremer (Canada), May 8, 2006 at 19:03

Political correctness requires that we forget about, or at least not act upon, our understanding of the realities of this world. It requires that we pretend a sixty-eight year old Jewish lady or a seventy-three year old Catholic gentleman is just as likely to commandeer a plane as a twenty-three year old Muslim. Political correctness requires that all are all treated as equal risks. It would require that, in addition to mosques, the police have informants keep tabs on all churches and synagogues, even though everyone in his right mind would understand that to be a complete waste of time. But then, people who subscribe to the tenets of political correctness are clearly not in their right mind. Individuals who submit to them out of fear are cowards, but public bodies, such as the police, will always play it safe and conform to the predominant views of the day, at least officially.
