What I can't understand is how come he didn't actually succeed in killing anyone? I think that is the only redeeming fact about him - I suspect it says something about his being in a conflicted psychological state.

His comments on the Koran condemn of Islam. I know the inquisition was one of Christanity's most shameful periods, but I never heard of any one being inspired to commit murder by reading the Bible.
