Islam should not be allowed to hide behind words and vocabulary

Dear Dr Pipes,

You said that the European elites, whom you described as 6P's, outrage you. You are not alone in your outrage. I listen to the BBC news podcast quite often. I listen to the BBC mostly to get a list of our world's problems articulated in beautiful accent and to learn how not to talk about and solve those problems.

I was privileged to begin the month of November by listing to a BBC global news podcast. In this podcast BBC had back-to-back coverage of women's protests in Iran and bombing of a city square in Somalia. BBC spent about 6 minutes on the two topics. They talked about Tehran, Mogadishu, Somalia, Iran, violence, al-shadab, al-qaeda, etc but they did not use the words Islam or Muslim. The shame of it all was that at one point of time they referred to the 'clergy' in Iran without qualifying it with adjective Islamic. As far as the BBC is concerned, this clergy could be straight from Vatican and led by the Pope.

Let us not pretend that the Media's whitewashing of the faults of Islam by omitting the words Islam and Muslim is ineffective and is not working. It is working very well. In my own discussions with people, I have heard young university graduates in the USA referring to (the so called) Palestine with no qualifier at all, as if Palestine were a legitimate European nation like Switzerland or Luxemburg. I contend that a nation whose purpose is to harm all religions but one, is illegitimate whether born or unborn.

We should not allow the media to hide the misdeeds of Muslims and Islam behind obfuscating vocabulary. Somalia, where the Islamic al-Shadab operates is a overwhelmingly Muslim majority nation whose constitutional goal is to protect and advance Islam. Al-Shadab is an al-Qaeda affiliate which, in turn, is a islam-affiliate. The women are not protesting in Iran. They are protesting in the Islamic republic of Iran. whose goal is also to protect and advance Islam. And, when the women say 'get lost' to the clergy, they are telling the Islamic clergy to get lost. Finally, what BBC is trying to protect from criticism is not a phantom enemy. BBC is trying to protect the religion of Islam whose fundamentalism and hypocrisy is a worldwide menace.

Oh God, I cannot believe that I can do so much exposition in one single paragraph!
