I think Bush got talked into going to the UN by Colin Powell and some of his father's advisors and it backfired horribly when Saddam agreed to let inspectors in before the Security Council Resolution(s) could be issued. Bush may have just lost his chance for the U. S. to create an island of democracy in the mideast. I hope he remembers who gave him the bad advice and ignores them in the future. Perhaps - while we wait for Saddam to impede inspections sufficiently that we are given cause to remove his regime militarily - we should turn our attention to Iran and create an island of democracy there first.
