How many moves ahead?

Khidhir Hamza, "Saddam's Bombmaker", contends that Iraq will eventually acquire a nuclear bomb if Saddam Hussein is allowed to remain in power long enough. In this macabre chess game Iraq has by allowing the UN inspectors to re-enter the country just sacrificed a piece and gained time. Hopefully, the US is thinking several moves ahead, and will checkmate Saddam before the flag drops. Otherwise, the administration has shot itself in the foot.
