Caliph Erdogan?

Reader comment on item: Erdo─čan's Turkish Delight

Submitted by David Ryan (United States), Nov 13, 2019 at 16:53

You have to be descended from Muhammad to be caliph. The claim isn't rare. Even Queen Elizabeth II apparently is. Erdogan's main opponent, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, leader of the Republican People's Party, claims to be. Erdogan would need to get his genealogy in order.

I want Constantinople back.
