NATO should be replaced

Reader comment on item: "The Battle against Islamism Has Not Yet Started"
in response to reader comment: SCO possibility

Submitted by Michael S (United States), Aug 26, 2016 at 11:50

Hi, Steve. You said,

"Since NATO has no process for dropping a member nation, perhaps he'll choose to join the SCO while remaining in NATO. That would be an interesting development... Either choice would involve an enormous compromise of intelligence and security."

NATO should be allowed to become an ineffective, paper-only treaty like the Rio Pact and SEATO. It can be replaced by a treaty of actual working allies, around a core of the Five Eyes.
