We don't need to win the war; just to fight it:

Military firms likely to benefit from airstrikes in Iraq, Syria

We are so much into this war already. According to Wikipedia, the US has 1,800 troops and 7,000 contractors on the ground (and we're just getting started!), plus thousands more of airmen, sailors, troops, contractors, contractors and contractors in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the Persian Gulf the Mediterranean, Jordan, Turkey, Israel and who-knows-where else. The closest thing this country has come to "no boots on the ground" was at Valley Forge.

FDR got the US out of the Great Depression, largely by entering World War II. I dare say, the same is happening today. "Obama's War" -- it sounds something like "Queeen Anne's War", another one you Brits shared with us Colonials.

"Barack commands, and I obey,
Over the hills and far away,
Over the hills and far away."

For the average Joe, this is all about jobs.
