Israel wasnt Westbank

Reader comment on item: Debate about possible war between Israel and Hamas
in response to reader comment: Arab-Israel Conflict

"Palestine is not under military occupation. The Arabs do not own this land."

Actually they do . . . or more correctly they did.

"The Israelis abandoned Gaza in hopes there would be peace."

Nope - Gaza did not belong to Israel - it was too difficult to look after. And Israel has no "historic" ties - as opposed to Westbank. Desire for "peace" had nothing to do with it.

- - -

"Hamas has refused to agree to peace and makes it clear they do not want peace. The Palestinians conveniently forget that there is no original crime. Only the Arabs believe that they can start a war and not have its population suffer consequences."

Wikileaks . . . it appeared that Abbas was willing to give even Jerusalem up - yet israel did not want ot give up West Bank - Israel NEVER wants to give up Westbank.
