My Response to the George Soros article
Reader comment on item: George Soros Teaches the FBI Tolerance

I am absolutely mystified by the apparent need of some Americans to take a liberty that we should all honor, and be willing to be blind to the essence of its meaning - while stretching it to thinly cover the letter of its intent.

When we begin to interpret our freedoms in such away that they are no longer protecting us, but can be used to destroy us, I wonder what the intent of these people really is.

That as Americans we have certain rights does not preclude others from wanting to use those very rights against us. That we are helping them is disgraceful and dangerous.

I believe in a liberal view but I also believe in caution. It is unfortunate for those upstanding law abiding citizens of this country who may happen to resemble "terrorist" types, and that they may inconvenienced - HOWEVER - if they were as concerned about American safety as all citizens are....and they being AMERICANS ...would be as UNTRUSTING as many Americans are today of people who have the reputatuion for terrorism. The possibilities and the dangers that some specific groups of people who have the reputation for terrorism would effect them and affect them equally. So, unless EVERY AMERICAN MOSLEM will know in advance of the next attack so that they can protect themselves....they are in as much danger as any one else and should appreciate all profiling to use that un-politically correct term, to weed out as many dangerous people as possible.

When a law can be made in NY to keep men out of children's parks who are not accompanied by a child...it is clear that public safety comes before individual needs.
