You use the argument that all beliefs should be individually considered before being branded as terrorists. I believe this is true, I am sure that the leaders of the American Revolution were branded as terrorists by the British. This, from their perspective was inherently true, several radical American groups used terrorist-like tactics to aid in the war against the British.
This does not however give an excuse to the Muslims. These people have been fairly compared. It is clear that an organization that uses Islam as "Holy" justification for the mass killing of inocent noncombatants, as well as spreading a message of fear and subjugation to the world is a terrorist organization. It may be that these fanatics are not good examples of the true meaning of Islam, this is for you to judge, but none the less they are useing the faith of millions as a weapon and method of controll. They decieve people daily with the belief that Americans are their enemy, merely because of their faith and a desire for conquest, while it is Muslims who attack Americans for not bowing to their wishes.
It makes no diffrence whether Islam WAS spread by the sword, what matters is that in certain areas it IS being spread by the sword. Multiple times groups proclaiming themselves to belong to Muslim terroists organizations have held hostage individuals (usually Christians) and forced them at gunpoint to convert to Islam or die. In many Middle-Eastern countries open faith in a religion other than Islam will result in sever persecution or death.
Regardless of whether Islam promotes these actions or not is besides the point. If the persons perpetrating these atrocities use Islam as the shield for their actions, then they make Islam the enemy of the world. It is up to fellow Islamics to put a stop to these people and to help make a safer world for us all.
