It's been now three days since David Horovitz in the Jerusalem Post wrote about the confirmation by the chief spokesman of the Russian Air Force, Col. Aleksandr V. Drobyshevsky that Soviet pilots, in the USSR's most-advanced MiG-25 "Foxbat" aircraft, flew highly-provocative sorties over Israel's nuclear facility at Dimona in May 1967.
I've searched the New York Times and the Washington Post, The Times and Le Figaro to see how they carried the story. They did not. I checked the Russian Defense Ministry site of October 26 , 2006 . The reference is there.
This is a major story. After 40 years the truth is beginning to emerge. The whole history of the Middle East and the Cold War has been affected. Just like in 1975 when the 30 year ban was lifted the world found out about Bletchley Park and the deciphering of Enigma and history books had to be rewritten.
But parallel to the Foxbats over Dimona we have another story. The inability of the world to write about any event which exonerates Israel.
