If the US were indeed to convert to moslem nation, what exactly would the problem be? If we had a progressive, literate, happy people, does it really matter what religion they belong to?

A couple of millenia ago, Christianity did the same to most of the world. They subverted, terrorized, conquered, and converted. You wouldn't by any chance be complaining about that, would you?
