Muslims resent Western scrutiny of IslamReader comment on item: Daniel Pipes, peacenik Submitted by Susan Petrea (United States), May 13, 2003 at 00:41 Muslims simply cannot bear any objective scrutiny or criticism of Islam. Muslim advocacy groups in the U.S.constantly attempt to silence Daniel Pipes not because he misrepresents Islam, but because he speaks the unvarnished truth.Daniel Pipes is a national treasure who has exposed the dubious agendas of many American Muslim groups and individuals. He has also exposed the ideology behind Islamic fanaticism and Islamic militancy, providing a clear and comprehensive illustration of a dangerous, insidious enemy. Why would any American object to this? Every time I hear a Muslim voice raised in objection to the promulgation of truth and factual information, I trust Muslims a little less. If Muslims intend to live in America where they are a small minority, they should understand that any cultural adjustments will be their problem, not ours. They should also understand that in America, free speech prevails and Islam is not excluded from that venue. If Islam is a virtuous, peaceful, honorable, faultless paragon of piety, why are Muslims so defensive and insecure? If they are trying to hide something, they're only inviting further and deeper scrutiny with their paranoid campaigns to stifle non-Muslim discourse on Islam.
