Reader comment on item: [Looting:] An Iraqi Tragedy

Submitted by Marc S. Karlan, M.D. (United States), Apr 22, 2003 at 21:29

You quote :

Michael Sells of Haverford College: They are "barbarians" whose "criminal neglect" makes them comparable to Nero.

Please send me the complete text of these remarks.
Why?

My son is accepted to Haverford. I hope to influence where he attends college. I was concerned when I read Michael Sells' " Approaching the Qur'an: The Early Revelations" since it avoided translating, or commenting or even acknowledging the existence of any signs of the basis for violent fundamentalism in the Quran.

If indeed I can quote time, place and full text of this remark (underlining rather than abreviating) his statements, and I find them appropriate, I will be happy to send such to the admissions office. Indeed ! The admissions offices should be approached at all the universities that have so lamely failed to protect their students from the overzealousness of their faculty.

Thank you.
