Violence Renounced?

Reader comment on item: War against Radical Islamists

Submitted by Sol Shalit (United States), Jun 16, 2002 at 17:31

The key difference between Daniel Pipe and Fawaz Gerges lies in the latter's statement:

"I think the overwhelming number of Islamists are mainstream Islamists [---] who have renounced violence".

Aside from some eloquent Arabs TV talking heads addressing the American public, precisely where was this violence publicly renounced?
