Europe is full of fears

Reader comment on item: [Appeasement Explains] Why Europe Balks

Submitted by Frank Luke (United States), Feb 17, 2003 at 17:27

Europe sides up with extremists because extremists can attack them on their soil. On the other hand, the US would not resort to such a low tactic, and so, going against the US is harmless. Going against extremists is dangerous.

Europeans should remember that the US saved them from Hitler, and if the US had not intervened, Europe might not have become the beautiful place it is.

It is a sign of weakness, to side up with brigands and speak against a noble nation.

Washington should go ahead and rid this world of the menace that is saddam hussein regardless of what Europe feels.
Can Europe bring back to life the 3000 people who perished on September 11? It was inactivity that made it possible to occur, and continued inactivity would be a folly compounded beyond measure. George Bush knows that he is in Washington, not to kow-tow to European bashfulness. He is there to protect US interests, and removing Saddam is utterly essential.
