Thank you for your thoughts, however as traumatic as it could very well be in Iraq (and elsewhere), we need to keep things in perspective. There is a reality that is larger than the greatest amount of ugliness that humans can come up with. By that standard, Saddam must hang, regardless of how he defends himself.

Perhaps, the first steps can be taken which will distance that part of the world which is the swamp that needs to be drained, from what justifies bloodlust in the name of Allah. A friend is lending me Fouad Ajami's, "The foreigner's gift". The assessment is - this is more than an ideological battle. For, as long as circumstances over-ride people being held responsible for their actions, we need to be engaged culturally, not just ideologically.
