Achieving Calm

Reader comment on item: [Is Israel] Winning by retreating?

Submitted by Allen Minitzer (Israel), May 22, 2002 at 07:53

I disagree with you on Israel's retreat from Southern Lebanon. Apart from the fact that we should never have stayed there, leaving has actually calmed the situation down considerably and frankly, if leaving Gaza and the West Bank would result in the same, I would do it also.
As you, I don't believe that any peace treaty will be achieved in the near future, therefore, if we can achieve a fairly calm situation, so be it.
