Israel is continuously in the chamber of politcal horrors that constantly require vigilence, and determination, to maintain a defense zone that in its totally circumventional posturing in order to prevent attacks from all directions, if and when her enemies get enough gumption to act out on those threats being deposited in the media of co-conspiratorial intentions caling for Israel's elimination.
The question from this observer is why PM E Olmert, or E Barak, did find htemselves not only trying to defend Israel from enemies foreign, but enemies domestic. And it appears the same occurs today when considering the Knesset cannot seem to coalese around partners for peace. Then is was Syrial; now its the Iranian Islamic Regime; who is it going to be after that? Is Lapid needing to look over his shoulder?
