A question of conscience

Reader comment on item: Legacy of Empire

Dear Dr Pipes,

Britain is often blamed for starting the events that caused the Zionist movement which, in turn, led to the creation of Israel. This is a question of conscience. Can we, in good conscience, blame Britain for starting the events that led to Jews taking their land back from Muslims but do not blame Muhammad for starting the events that led to Jews losing that land to Muslims in the first place? Case closed.
