Reader comment on item: Ban the Burqa, Allow the Burkini
in response to reader comment: "Sri Lanka moves to ban burqas and close more than 1,000 Islamic schools"

Submitted by A very concerned reader, Mar 15, 2021 at 12:59

Thank you very much, Dr Pipes. I'm moving there on this subject.

May Sri Lanka government's brave act set an example in Europe as well as in Australia, where burka is not frown upon but welcomed. Silently, the burka has been taking the streets without any rise or alarm by the communities which definitely are an example of acceptance and tolerance to diversity. However, the cost of this tolerance might be very high. Look at the level that Sri Lanka has needed to reach in order to keep their state in peace. They needed to learn it the hard way after so much violence and damage. And Muslims are just 10% of their population! I'd love to see in the upcoming months that more governments tackle this issue in the same way before it's too late and more lives are taken in islamists' hands. How many more people do European governments need to see dying to take this desperate but consequent and correct measures?

Thanks again for your reply and your dedication to spread your knowledge. Looking forward to reading your input.
