Dr Pipes,

So Craig Considine does not seem to be aware of this Hadith and it is found in many books of Kutub al-Ahadith al-Sahiha al-Sitta and in this case from Sunun al-Nisai'

أتتوضأ من بءر البضاعة وهي بءر يطرح فيها لحوم الكلاب والحيض والنتن فقال الماء طهور لاينجسه شيء

This can be rendered as: (Someone is asking Muhammad): Do you perform ablution from the well of al-Bida'a and it is a well where (people) dump the meat of dead dogs, (blood of women from) menses and the stinking? (Muhammad) said water is purification (read as pure) nothing makes it impure!

No I'm not kidding!

Here is a link to the Hadith

Any comments Craig Considine?

So much for Muhammad the Dr and epidemiologist and hygienist

Next? Muhammad and head and body lice!
