Ask a muslim about islam?

Reader comment on item: "A Corrective to the Pipes Worldview"?

How can a muslim explain islam to any body when majority of them do not know what is in quran and how Mohammed , the role model of islam lived. Quran is without context or chronolgy. Most of the verses dont make any sense unless you know the whole story behind them through hadiths and prophet's biography.

The original scriptures being in arabic and the translations not available until very recently, average muslim only knows what the biased islamists write or what the mullah tells.. Since Mohammed led a very violent life and quran promotes a very violent and hateful ideology, biased interpretations, misrepresentations and cover ups are rampant. When some one writes the truth, most muslims go in denial and apologetics or get belligerant and hostile instead of investigating and soul searching.
Reaction of the subject writers to Dr. Pipes writings is typical of apologists, it is no surprise.

If some one wants to know the truth about islam , best sources are to go to ex-muslim islamic scholars, not an average muslim. Read Dr. Ali Sina (faithfreedom.org), Dr. Ibn Warraq ( author,Leaving Islam, Why I am not a muslim), Anwar Shaikh (author Islam, Arab imperialism, Faith and Deception), and Ali Dashti (23 years). Current bestbooks on islam by non muslims are Dr Spencer's "Polotically incorrect guide to islam" and Craig Winn's "Prophet of Doom" (also available on prophetofdoom.net)
