It is a pity to make a mountain out of a hat

I do not accept that Strache's hat was tainted with anything.
If that is the hat his fraternity wears, it does not make his hat a symbol of anti-semitism, even if some in his fraternity are. It is better to let someone from his fraternity consider that he disgraced the hat than for us to idiotically claim his hat was at fault. This is the type of thinking which allows idiots to claim each and every thing they can associate with colonialism or racism is in fact a symbol of (or tainted with) colonialism/racism.

In fact, the claim something is "tainted with" becomes tautological, since by associating an object with something they dislike they will have demonstrated that it is associated (and therefore "tainted") with that bad thing.

It is surely merely a matter of time before it is declared that to give a speech against racism in English is "offensive", because English "is tainted" with colonialism and with slavery. And soon enough, the left will turn against the flag and argue that it needs to be replaced and later even that the USA similarly needs to be replaced because the flag and the state is "tainted with" racism/slavery/every-kind-of-phobia
