Victory as a means of peace

Reader comment on item: Pushing for an Israeli Victory Is the Only Way to End the Conflict with the Palestinians

Submitted by Ilbert Phillips, Dec 3, 2018 at 00:49

I have been baffled about the refusal of Israel to actually defeat the Arabs and Palestinians in war, to wit, no armistice, but actual peace. I suspect that part of the problem was that Israel did not have a sufficiently populated army to occupy the Arab countries that attacked Israel in 1948 and 1967. The domestic population was not that large as well.

In addition, the United States and the UN were not on board with this normal method of resolving a war. The Arab states controlled the world supply of oil and had the ability to cause economic panic in the world.

The time is ripe however for Israel to move forward, the Sunnis are afraid of Iran and are moving toward Israel, and the U.S. is exporting oil. Perhaps President Trump will tell the Israelis that they are free to defeat the Palestinians.
