Dialectics of Nationalism

Reader comment on item: Europe's Civilizationist Parties
in response to reader comment: Yes, Nationalism Takes Many Forms

Dear Dave,

I appreciate your appreciation of "Nationalism." I put the word "Dialectics" in the title above in an effort to be a bit provocative with Dr. Pipes; he would probably acknowledge that his late beloved father, Dr. Richard Pipes, was better versed in Hegel Idealism, Marxism, Communism, and European Socialism which emerged when Hitler and Stalin made their alliance in World War II. Here, I use the term only to suggest a "cyclical return" historically discarded notion of Nationalism, particularly in Europe with the Economic and Political growth of the European Union. Now, amazingly, the United Kingdom took an exit from it, and most of the European member states are breeding "Civilizational" (I say "Nationalist") parties as an almost obvious anti-dote to the onslaught Muslim or Islamist Migrants and illegal refugees, who won't dissolve in Europe's Melting Pot on the North of the Mediterranean Sea.

Incidentally, for us Americans, Trump's Slogan of "Make America Great Again," is a response to the Multiculturalism that emerged in the United States in the 1960's when the institution of Racism was in place to keep "People of Color" out of "White Neighborhoods" and WASP Occupations. But now we see the violation of the Ancient Greek Principle of the Golden Mean, or "nothing to extreme."

Dr. Daniel Pipes has a preference for his notion of "Conservatism"; my preference is for "Dialectics" picked out of the European Frankfurt School, some of whose circle members wound up on the shores of the United States and its diverse Academia in response to Hitlers highly efficient Concentration and Extermination Camps (in eliminating not only Jews, but all sorts of Leftists besides hard-core Communists).
