Your Dad and his workReader comment on item: "He Has Lived" Submitted by Greg Barnes (United States), May 31, 2018 at 12:55 Thank you for this moving post. As an undergraduate history major at Western Maryland College, I took a History of Russia course in 1971. Very little of the required reading from college stuck with me afterwards, but your father's article "the National Problem in Russia" (In a 1969 collection "Readings on Russian Civilisation") made an impact. For the first time I realized the Soviet Union was not a monolith that commanded all of its peoples' loyalty. The article resonated with me throughout the 1980s as I watched the USSR collapse. I came to your website simply because I read an article by you and wondered if you were his offspring, Now that I am your loyal reader, I know your father was proud of you and your work.
