Reader comment on item: Will Donald Trump Be Impeached?

Submitted by Atheist Jay (South Korea), Mar 21, 2017 at 04:52

And I know that you already commented on my previous post regarding Trump's immaturity and the potential for him to lead the world straight into an international nightmare of unfathomable proportions. However, I forgot to add this. He has supporters (certainly NOT) all of them, who believe that he is an almost divine figure. I have one friend, for example, who likes Trump because he speaks out against militant Islamic extremism and supports Israel (which, really, any effective president should). However, she doesn't seem to understand that supporting Israel is only one small part of supporting Jews, and their right to exist AS JEWS--be they liberal, conservative, orthodox, etc-- and not be converted to Christianity in some imagined end of times prophecy (and maybe I am going too far into that, because Trump is no more religious than I am, in reality). In her eyes, Trump can literally DO NO WRONG, regardless of his thoughts on things that Americans have historically taken for granted. Freedom of the press. The rule of Law. The right to vote. It exemplifies the sheer cult of personality that this man has. In a sick way, it is fascinating, because this is almost unprecedented in American History!

And one more thing I forgot to mention; this about the travel ban. In my opinion (and I said I supported you in vetting individuals rather than targeting citizens from entire countries) no administration, Democratic or Republican, has done a #$%*&% thing about Saudi Arabia. For obvious economic reasons. However, that nation has produced more little terrorists and jihadis fighting for a fundamentalist Wahhabi caliphate than any other nations. No one has ever held them accountable for the hatred and venom they have managed to spread throughout the Muslim World. Seems like that regime is, in one way or another, linked to every major jihadist group (as far as Sunni Muslims are concerned). And did Trump put them on his list? Of course he didn't...
