Reader comment on item: Surveying the Middle East & Islamism

Submitted by Susan Freiman (Israel), Apr 1, 2016 at 04:54

To whom do you refer by the word, "Palestinian"? Moslems, or also Christians? Those living in Gaza or also in the West Bank or also those within the Green Line?

You overlook the extent to which the economic problems in Gaza are caused by Israel's repression. And I say this as an American who has chosen to obtain Israeli citizenship and to live in Israel and to stay here, none of which has blinded me to what is becoming of the country.

Daniel Pipes replies:

I use this word in its usual way, meaning Muslims and Christians who trace their ancestry to the Mandate of Palestine in 1946-48.

Your point about Gaza is laughable. Just recall the greenhouses left behind by the Israelis in 2005.
