I admire Israel.Reader comment on item: [Michael Oren's] "Six Days of War" Submitted by C.Pe.Makhesh (India), May 8, 2005 at 12:17 Dear Sir,I have not read the book "6 Days of War" by Michael Oren, but I know that Israel won a comprehensive victory. As an Indian, I am amazed that such a small country as Israel has built such a formidable war machine that can rip apart its much larger neighbors. This is, in my opinion, possible because of the quality of war leaders/generals Israel has had, and the fact that many of these generals/army men have gone on to become civilian/government leaders as well. I know for a fact that former prime minister Ehud Barak was a member of the elite commando force that carried out the raid on Entebbe airport, and that the present prime minister, General Sharon has taken part in all the battles since Israel's formation. In contrast, India has not learnt the lessons of the defeat at the hands of the Chinese in 1962. What is more, a puny country like Pakistan has been able to torment us in Kashmir for over a decade. I dearly hope that the Indian government take the assistance of Israel in all matters of national defence and build a strong Indian army that can take on our enemies in the years to come.
