Reader comment on item: An Arab Prince Denounces Islamism

Submitted by MAHAMUNI (United States), Dec 11, 2014 at 11:52

I'm sure that the gratitude I feel---your column on CAIR, Qaradawi, and related issues----is shared by many people everywhere.

Americans have some experiences in our brief history which are similar to what we see today. Puritans tortured and burned witches. Protestant theocracy, now long gone, Muslim theocracy, and that species of "divinely inspired" murder is not new. The smell of charred flesh defies borders of all sorts.

What comes to mind is this:perhaps the word "theocracy" is misplaced, or misused, isn't it? If there is a supreme Being whose nature is creation and its consequence, aren't we tarring this formless reality with a puny human brush, itself soiled, missing bristles, inadequate itself?

Thank you,Dr. Pipes, for this fine review of Prince Salman's comments and our situation.
