Interesting to read this with the perspective of a decade...

The one thing I believe that was not predictable was the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood and its 'smackdown' in Egypt, putting Hamas in such a precarious situation. Given the western world's abysmal failure at reining in the Islamists, the arabs have to do the dirty work themselves.
