Reader comment on item: Saudis Bristle at Obama's Outreach to Iran

The Arab reaction reflects a negotiation table occupied by outsiders to the Middle East. None of Middle Eastern countries was represented at that table. Iran being the exception. It strikes me as logical that all of the conctries affected, that is the Middle Eastern countries including Israel, oppose the deal.

When Kerry came to negotiate without a single ally in the region he did drop the joker of empire under the negotiation table. Along with it he dropped the joker of military power as a precondition for talks. The Saudis correctly observe that those two jokers did not disappear from the floor. Iran picked up both of them.
