Nail on the head, James. ".. a populace that can no longer critically think or reflect on the achievements of their forebears or the challenges of the Age.." holds equally true in Europe. More scarily so if you consider the continent's history and the lessons it should have learned. What's to blame? Brains [including those of our ruling classes] altered by the relentless assault provided by trivial distractions, social media and, more fundamental, a decades-long, progressive socialist education of past and present generations ... or perhaps a more insidious, unseen, overwhelmingly strong force that's intent on driving the world to the brink? Watching events unfold and seeing the irreversibility of the damage done to our societies, believing in the latter can almost instill hope in the face of despair any thinking person must feel.
