Surely banning face coverings is just as repressive as being forced to wear one. Why is it always assumed that Muslim women have no desire to wear them themselves? maybe i'm being incredibly naive here, but surely the choice of whether to wear one or not is what is empowering rather than to be told that they are forbidden?
